STOP UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS
The SWIFT Lead Referral form is for filing a complaint against an unlicensed contractor who is actively working on a construction project. Complaints against unlicensed contractors may be filed with the Contractors State License Board by other public agencies, other contractors, subcontractors, homeowners, and employees. Complaints within the Board's jurisdiction involve licensed and unlicensed contractors.
It is illegal for an unlicensed person to perform contracting work on any project for which the contract price is $500.00 or more, including labor and materials.
In general, the Board has jurisdiction over licensed and unlicensed contractors for up to 4 years.
The lead form should be complete and provide detailed information regarding the unlicensed activity. Please indicate if there are employees on the project.
The Board's SWIFT lead form may be obtained online or by calling either the Southern or Northern SWIFT offices. When completed please mail or fax the lead form to the office closest to your area.
Complaints are processed according to the date of receipt, priority, and staff availability if the job site is located in a remote area. The complaint will be assigned to an Enforcement Representative who will follow-up on the information provided.
The following laws currently exist in the state of Nevada regarding unlicensed contracting:
First Offense - Misdemeanor
