Course Description:

The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) program provides an opportunity for professionals in the arboriculture industry to expand their knowledge through education and training in the fundamentals of tree risk assessment. This qualification promotes the safety of people and property by providing a standardized and systematic process for assessing tree risk. The results of a tree risk assessment can provide tree owners and risk managers with the information to make informed decisions to enhance tree benefits, health, and longevity.

The Tree Risk Assessment Re-Qualification Course is a one-day refresher, with five hours of instruction, and three hours of take the exam. Current TRAQ holders can complete the abbreviated course up to 18 months before their qualification expires.

Course Eligibility:

To be able to register for the TRAQ Renewal Course you must hold a TRAQ credential. You may complete the TRAQ Renewal Course as early as 18 months prior to your qualification expiration date. Participants are asked to bring their TRAQ Risk Assessment manual and clipboard to training.

Registration closes on May 24, 2019 or when class is filled. All payments are due by May 24, 2019. Cancellation/refund requests must be submitted by May 24, 2019. All Applications will be reviewed for approval. Your registration will be finalized via email. 

What to bring to class:

  • Your government-issued photo ID
  • TRAQ Manual and Workbook
  • Hard hat and high-visibility vest or shirt
  • #2 pencils and clipboard for taking notes
  • Rain gear, including large zip-lock bag

Please dress for your comfort level indoors and outdoors; we cannot always control the room temperature to suit everyone. Come prepared to spend part of the day outdoors.

Course Instructor:

Jim Flott

Jim Flott is the owner of Community Forestry Consultants, Inc. (CFC). He received his B.S. in Horticulture from Iowa State University. His M.S. in Forest Pathology from the University of Arizona. He has over 30 years of work experience in the horticulture, urban forestry and arboriculture industries. He is a Board member of the PNW-ISA and the Washington Community Forestry Council. Jim is an ISA Certified Arborist, Certified Municipal Specialist and a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists.
