Accidents involving chainsaws are a significant concern for tree care and landscape employers, the employees who operate the equipment, and manufacturers alike. Strong anecdotal information from the field tells us that chainsaw operators receive little or no formal training on chainsaw operation and field maintenance. TCIA’s Tree Care Academy Chainsaw Specialist course is designed to train tree care employees in hazards, accepted practices for chainsaw operation, and other associated tasks. It will also encourage an increase of employee involvement with overall safety compliance and self-policing.
This course will cover:
· Hazard awareness.
· Procedures for chainsaw operation and maintenance.
· Chainsaw Maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for chainsaw operators.
· Use of chaps and leg protection.
· Use of a chainsaw aloft.
· Communicating with crew members for fellers, climbers, and bucket operators.
· Bucking, felling, and pruning cutting techniques.
Attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion and 3.5 ISA CEUs / 3.5 CTSP CEUs
