annual conferences, regional meetings, and Certified Arborist and Certified Tree Worker examinations. In addition, it contains advertisements for arboricultural services, and equipment,
as well as classified ads regarding positions wanted or available.
Guidelines for article submission to the Western Arborist
Please submit all documents as Word files. No other file formats will be accepted. In your Word document, be sure to indicate with a phrase such as “[Figure 1]” where figures, tables, or images should be inserted. For images where there is no designated spot, please indicate this.
High resolution images are needed for magazine production. They MUST be at least 1 MB and may need to be larger depending on the desired size of the finished photo. Images need to be sent as attachments, not embedded into the message. This causes the image size to be automatically reduced.
All images, figures, and tables must be accompanied by a caption and photographer attribution.
For each author, please include names, email, and vocation or avocation.
Be sure to include complete references for any cited literature used.
If you think your article lends itself well for CEU credit, please include 20 multiple choice and/or true-false questions. Be sure to send the answers too!
All submissions must be submitted to the editor’s email: editor@wcisa.net. Files sent to other email addresses will be returned.
No submissions will be accepted for upcoming issues of WA if they arrive more than a week after the posted deadline. Posted deadlines are in each magazine.
Authors need to promptly review their pdf proofs carefully to help identify errors that occur when moving material from word to pdf format for print production. Common errors include loss of footnotes, italics, and other formatting mistakes. The earlier these errors are found the easier they are to correct.
Prospective Articles should be emailed to Linda Chalker Scott, Editor (editor@wcisa.net)
Submittal deadlines are January 15, April 15, July 15 and October 15.
