SCHS Lecture Series - The Tree Collectors: Tales of Arboreal Obsession.
The Southern California Horticultural Society is pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling author Amy Stewart as our guest lecturer for 2025. Stewart is widely known for her engaging non-fiction books about the natural world, including The Drunken Botanist and Wicked Plants. In this year’s lecture, she will introduce her latest book, The Tree Collectors: Tales of Arboreal Obsession.
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the LA Zoo’s Witherbee Auditorium on Friday, May 9, 2025, as Stewart takes us on a journey into the extraordinary lives of tree collectors—people whose deep-rooted passion for trees has transformed their lives in ways both unexpected and profound. While researching The Tree Collectors, Stewart anticipated meeting horticultural fanatics determined to plant every species of oak or maple. Instead, she discovered something far more meaningful: a connection between people and trees that is deeply tied to community, vision, and healing.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Amy Stewart share the remarkable stories behind The Tree Collectors and connect with fellow plant and nature enthusiasts.
