Tree Stewardship Series: Ready, Set, Grow San Diego
Join the City of San Diego and Tree San Diego for a four-part training series offered through the Ready, Set, Grow San Diego project. This cohort-based program is designed for individuals interested in developing skills in tree care, community stewardship, and urban forestry. The series combines online learning with hands-on field experience, offering both foundational knowledge and practical application.
Program Schedule & Highlights:
- Tree Stewardship Online Module (September 6):
Learn the core principles of San Diego’s urban forestry efforts, including tree planting fundamentals, climate resilience, and the benefits of trees in urban environments.
- Tree Trek – Colina Del Sol Park (September 20):
Engage in guided field learning with ISA-Certified Arborists, focusing on species ID, site assessment, and evaluating trees planted during past community events.
- Hands-On Tree Planting – Bay Terraces (October 11):
Apply best practices for tree installation, mulching, staking, and early care in priority planting zones. Safety and community-based planting techniques will be emphasized.
- Graduation & Tree Trek – Balboa Park (November 8):
Celebrate the cohort’s journey with a legacy tree walk and participant-led presentations highlighting the value and history of trees across Balboa Park.
This is a free program open to volunteers, professionals, and aspiring tree stewards looking to contribute to a greener, more equitable San Diego. All participants who complete the series will receive a certificate of completion and Tree Stewardship swag.
