Join Jocelyn Cohen for a pictorial talk, "Ancient Tree Journeys and Findings since 2010: Strategies, Ecology, History & the British Landscape.”
"Since my childhood memory of climbing our huge Chinese elm, my tree journey includes an evolution from peacefully napping or hiding like a nymph in trees, tasting damp bark ... to becoming an ISA Certified Arborist, APA Certified Pruner, garden designer and arborecologist. While attending workshops and field trips in England with ancient tree folks, my focus evolved to ancient and veteran trees, their ecology, history, architecture, care and management. This talk will initially place us in England in an ancient forest called Savernack.
I plan to share my observations, curiosity, new knowledge and science about these 'unpredictable' strategies trees use after maturity in order to survive and begin life anew. We will dive into the tree's visual and physiological changes and the importance of the tree's age with associated soil, in relation to mutualistic and symbiotic relationships with flora, fauna and fungi."
