Rooted in California: Native Trees and the Stories They Tell (a five week series)

If you’re looking to earn CEUs while deepening your knowledge of California’s native trees, we have something designed with you in mind.
Certified arborists can earn 7.5 CEUs by participating in Rooted in California: Native Trees and the Stories They Tell, a five-part live webinar series led by botanists Matt Ritter and Michael Kauffmann, authors of the award-winning book California Trees, alongside historian Jared Farmer.
This series goes beyond basic ID. Together, we’ll explore:
– Native tree identification across California’s regions
– Fire ecology, drought adaptation, and climate pressures
– Endemism, rare species, and conifer diversity
– Broadleaf trees, structure, and seasonal rhythms
– Big trees, deep time, and long-term stewardship
Each session blends practical field knowledge with ecological and historical context — giving you insight you can apply directly to consulting, tree care, urban forestry, restoration, and client education.
