This training will provide green industry professionals with comprehensive knowledge on managing the pest-disease complex invasive shothole borers - Fusarium dieback (ISHB-FD). Participants will learn about the biology of ISHB-FD and its impact on trees. The session will cover the current distribution of ISHB-FD, effective monitoring techniques to detect early infestations, and best management practices for controlling and mitigating damage. Emphasis will also be placed on strategies for preventing the spread of this pest, including sanitation measures and proper disposal of infested material.
Speaker:
Beatriz (Bea) Nobua-Behrmann serves as the Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Advisor for the University of California Cooperative Extension, covering Orange and Los Angeles Counties. Since 2017, she has focused on issues related to the invasive shothole borers, conducting research into the pest's biology and management. Her work includes developing and implementing comprehensive integrated pest management strategies to effectively control this invasive threat.
