Speaker: Dr. Keith Weiser is a leading scientist and expert in the field of invasive pest management, with a particular focus on the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB), an invasive species that threatens ecosystems and agriculture in Hawaii. Based on Oahu, Dr. Weiser is actively involved in research and management strategies aimed at controlling and containing CRB populations in Hawaii and across the Pacific region. In his role, Dr. Weiser coordinates a range of initiatives, including delimiting surveys to track the spread of the pest, field treatments to address infestations, and outreach programs to educate the public and agricultural stakeholders about CRB. His work also involves developing new treatment methods and innovative solutions for pest management, collaborating with local, state, and international partners to mitigate the impacts of this invasive species.
