Whether you attended one of the first three outdoor workshops or not, see how tree responded to pruning cuts made three and five years ago. This is the best way to learn pruning by seeing for yourself how structure is improved with selected pruning cuts in the right position. Mark Chisholm will show us how to efficiently reach the right place; that is the edge of the tree crown. This is the program where you will see trees being pruned and provide input. You will see and touch the latest arborists' gear allowing you to tackle any job efficiently and effectively. Active participation is expected of attendees. There is ample time to evaluate trees we pruned during the last several years and discuss their response. Additional trees of various sizes will be pruned in the field.

Pruning is a process not a onetime event
We present a process of quickly evaluating structure and developing a pruning plan in seconds. It is easy to communicate to the crew and customers. We show pruning on the largest branches toward the edge of the crown to shorten limbs at just the right place. And we show appropriate use of reduction, removal, and heading cuts using the new ANSI A300 pruning standard. We finish with a brief introduction to writing specifications using the new ASNI language.
