10:00am Trees and Stormwater Management
Scott Altenhoff, City of Eugene, Eugene, OR
This presentation will focus on the challenges and opportunities involved with managing municipal stormwater using street trees and related green infrastructure. We will explore some of most important considerations related to site planning and design, tree and facility installation, and general maintenance. We will also consider some of the current barriers/biases/knowledge gaps that limit more widespread use of trees rather than engineered facilities for municipal stormwater treatment and discuss some of the strategies that the City of Eugene has found useful for making progress in this realm.
