This 3-day course and exam is open to interested parties who meet the prerequisites (see Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Application Guide) and is limited to 20 arborists (first-come/first-served). The qualification consists of a 2-day educational course followed by a 1/2 day assessment that includes both a written and field component. It is required that you attend the course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive this qualification.
Registration closes on August 13, 2021 or when class is filled. All payments are due at the time of registration. Cancellation/refund requests must be submitted by August 13, 2021. All applications will be reviewed for approval. Your registration will be finalized via email.

What to bring to class:
- Your government-issued photo ID
- TRAQ Manual and Workbook
- Hard hat and high-visibility vest or shirt
- #2 pencils and clipboard for taking notes
- Rain gear, including large zip-lock bag
- Please dress for your comfort level indoors and outdoors; we cannot always control the room temperature to suit everyone. Come prepared to spend part of the day outdoors.
You will receive a confirmation packet containing a letter with the date and time of the course and the name of the appropriate contact person. The confirmation packet includes one copy each of the Tree Risk Assessment Manual, TRAQ Clipboard, and Tree Risk Assessment Workbook. Individuals taking a retake exam will not receive a new manual or workbook. No refunds or discounts are given if you already own the Tree Risk Assessment Manual.
Confirmation packets will be shipped to the address provided on the personal information registration page. Please provide a physical shipping address.
ISA cannot ship to a PO box.
To earn a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification you must hold or have held one of the following prerequisites. Please indicate which prerequisite(s) can be used to verify your eligibility:
- For non-ISA credentials, please submit a copy of a certificate, credential identification card, diploma, or similar documentation.
- Current ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified holder registering to re-qualify
- ISA Certified Arborist Number
- ISA BCMA Number
- Society of American Foresters (SAF) Certified Forester
- Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Traditional Forestry, or Horticulture Degree from an accredited college or university
- Others listed in the TRAQ application guide

Instructor: Jim Flott
Jim Flott is the owner of Community Forestry Consultants, Inc. (CFC). He received his B.S. degree in horticulture from Iowa State University and his M.S. degree in forest pathology from the University of Arizona and has over 30 years work experience in the horticulture, urban forestry and arboriculture industries.
He is a board member of the Pacific Northwest International Society of Arboriculture (PNW-ISA) and the Washington Community Forestry Council; an ISA certified arborist and certified municipal specialist; American Society of Consulting Arborists registered consulting arborist; and a PNW-ISA certified tree risk assessor.
